Big screen made by the company White Void, even without multi-touch capabilities this screen is one of the inspirations for the drawing wall.
and of course, the iBar
inspiration for the way the instalation could read the drawn music

In this one-week task the students should test and analyse the Nintendo Wii game console and her controller, the Wii Fit.
After analysing the good and bad points the students should join in groups of 2 and create a game concept for the Wii, paper prototype it and test it with students outside of the group and finally make an evidencing until the end of the week.
Our proposal was centre in a unconventional and never used before way to use the Wii Fit. Instead of stay on top of the controller, the user lay down with his chest in the controller. The tests presented us with an amazing discover. This way of using the controller is much more sable and easy, being able to reach new records in the games much faster.
The game concept is a futuristic wing suit skydiving game simulator, where the player has to reach different shining bug clouds to get points and power to his boosters.
As evidencing we created a movie-clip, showing the fly experience that is felt in the game, and also showing some snapshot of what the game should look like.

On this week I joined with Miray to work with the RFID technology called TikiTag.
This is a company that created a user-friendly way to use RFID tags using a Internet application, a reader and some RFID stikers.
Being in development the funcionalities of this product are still very few, so we had to stick to some sort action that could be made or faked with the TikiTag.
Until the middle of the week we should came up with 10 ideas so then we could choose one and develop it.
We chose to combine two of the ideas using the mood cups and the idea that people like custom objects and to be able to customize their own objects.
The cups would be bought on the Internet. They have an anthropomorphic shape of a head in the cups but no moods are related to them being the buyer the one that choose what kind of mood the cup transmit to them. The user can also choose on the Internet default graphics to be printed on them or buy them without graphics like a blank canvas and the user can paint them, an analogy to the collectible designer vinyl toys.
The user would have a table with a graphic image that tells them where he should put the cup to activate it. Beneath the table top would be a tikitag reader, a media centre and loudspeakers.
The user when choose a cup to have a drink can set the mood of the cup and draw on it. When he place the cup on the table the reader reads the RFID tag making the media centre creates a random music play list connected with the same mood of the cup. Whenever you pass the cup on it you can change the song.
The concept of the cup can be used not only for moods giving the possibility to the user the ability to set is own parameters like instead of mood it could be music styles or instruments.

Last week we had an intense workshop, learning Arduino, a very exiting hardware/software/ electronics prototyping platform. Being a field that I never tried before, electronic programing shown to be a very challenging way to be able to enhance your ideas.

For some time I’ve been thinking about combining two different technologies that I found on the web to make a new way to gather energy from the wind, in a similar way that Bluenergy AG fused a vertical wind mill with solar power panels.
These two technologies that I’m talking about are the MIT Super cilia Skin membrane and the Biowave from the Bio Power Systems. The quality of the MIT membrane with their tiny modules that move independently can be used in the halls of buildings, could also be used as a energy gather like the Biowave gathers energy from the waves in the sea. Instead of gathering energy from the waves the membrane would move with the wind and would create energy. In the same manner that when we are cold our body hairs stand to gather eat, the modules from the mambrane would create energy that coulde be use to helpe runing the building.
Super Cilia Skin
“Natura maxime miranda in minimis” (Nature is greatest in little things)
“Super Cilia Skin is a literal membrane separating a
computer from its environment. Like our skin, it is
haptic I/O membrane that can sense and simulate
movement and wind flow. Our intention is to have it
be universally applied to sheath any surface. As a
display, it can mimic another person’s gesture over a
distance via a form of tangible telepresence. A
hand-sized interface covered with Super Cilia Skin
would produce subtle changes in surface texture that
feel much like a telepresent “butterfly kiss.””Super Cilia Skin
Biological Inspired Power Systems
BioPower Systems is commercialising ocean power conversion technologies. Through application of biomimicry, we have adopted nature’s mechanisms for survival and energy conversion in the marine environment and have applied these in the development of our proprietary wave and tidal power systems.
Our technologies inherit benefits developed during 3.8 Billion years of evolutionary optimization in nature’s ocean laboratory. The resulting systems move and sway in tune with the forces of the ocean, and naturally streamline when extreme conditions prevail. This leads to lightweight designs and associated low costs.
The inherently simple bioWAVE™ and bioSTREAM™ devices are designed to supply utility-scale grid-connected renewable energy using efficient modular systems. These systems will reside beneath the ocean surface, out of view, and in harmony with the living creatures that inspired their design.
